Pajcins Prevail !!!

So, as I let you all know on January 1, 2011 Vlad and I embarked on a weight loss competition with our dear friends. It took much longer than we anticipated, but as Lori and I kept discussing, slow and steady wins the race! Yes, it was about the nice $100 gift card as a reward, but the BIG reward was losing the weight while developing realistic and healthy eating habits.

Neither my husband nor myself counted calories or points...we just ate "smart." We ate servings of food...if 20 pretzels was a serving, that's what we had. My favorite mid day snack has become a cheese stick, serving of roasted almonds, and a small can of low sodium V8 juice. It carries me through the morning until lunch and is quite satisfying! My breakfast varied between a sandwich (made on Orowheat Sandwich Thins) of almond butter, honey, and banana or Coach's Oats Oatmeal with brown sugar, a little butter, and blueberries or craisins. Dinners varied and we even had the occasional TJs frozen pizzas as a midweek, don't feel like cooking dinner. We ate out hardly at all! On the eve of our win, we did have CPK since my parents were visiting, but again, just ate "smart."

We both exceeded the % on weigh in day, I had lost 5.8% and Vlad 5.7%. With my victory over him, I also got a $100 Burke Williams GC, that my husband so generously increased as my Valentine's gift ;-} I cannot wait to have my much needed Spa Day and hopefully with my girls!

As the competition came to a close, I was eager to indulge in a couple treats..... but I still want to keep going, lose more and continue on my journey of eating smart. With a 2 1/2 year old boy, a mama needs energy and I WANT to run around with my little wild one for many years to come!

Keep following my blog as I create and post new tasty recipes!
